A beautiful family photo can capture a moment that lasts a lifetime. This fall, a special Toronto photography initiative is turning those moments into something even more meaningful — an opportunity to help local families in need.
Local photographer Krista Fogel of Krista Fogel Photography has launched Families for Family, a fall mini-session photography fundraiser supporting Red Door Family Shelter, an organization dedicated to helping women, children, and families experiencing housing insecurity in Toronto.
Making the initiative even more impactful, Nicola St. John of Bosley Real Estate is generously matching all donations, doubling the contributions raised through the photography sessions.
A Picture-Perfect Way to Give Back
Families for Family brings together the joy of capturing family memories with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the community.
For a suggested donation of $99, participating families receive a professional fall mini photography session and one 5×7 photograph. Additional digital images, prints, and holiday card collections are also available for those looking to share their family memories with loved ones.
The sessions are designed to feel natural, relaxed, and authentic. Rather than relying on elaborate themed backdrops, Krista focuses on capturing genuine connections, laughter, and the special moments that make every family unique.
Whether families arrive dressed casually or in their favourite festive outfits, the experience is about celebrating togetherness while supporting an important cause.
Doubling the Impact With Nicola St. John
One of the most inspiring aspects of this initiative is the generosity of Nicola St. John, a Toronto realtor with Bosley Real Estate, who has committed to matching donations made through Families for Family.
That means every dollar contributed has twice the impact in supporting Red Door Family Shelter and the families it serves.
The campaign has set an initial fundraising goal of $2,000, which would grow to $4,000 with Nicola’s matching contribution.
In a fundraising update shared by Krista, the initiative had already raised more than $900 in donations — representing over $1,800 in combined support after matching.
This collaboration demonstrates how local businesses, professionals, and community members can come together to make a meaningful difference.
Supporting Red Door Family Shelter
Red Door Family Shelter has long been an important resource for families facing difficult circumstances in Toronto.
Through emergency shelter and supportive services, the organization helps women, children, and families experiencing homelessness find safety, stability, and a pathway toward a brighter future.
Initiatives like Families for Family help bring awareness to the challenges faced by vulnerable families while providing an opportunity for the broader community to contribute.
Beyond the photographs themselves, each session represents something bigger: neighbours helping neighbours, families supporting families, and a community coming together for a shared purpose.
Fall Mini Photography Sessions in Toronto
Families for Family scheduled two outdoor photography dates in some of Toronto’s beautiful neighbourhood settings:
- Sunday, October 18, 2026 — Glen Stewart Ravine, Toronto
- Sunday, November 8, 2026 — Kew Gardens, Toronto
The October session date has passed, but the November 8 session offers another opportunity to participate, subject to availability.
With the beautiful colours of autumn providing a natural backdrop, these sessions offer families a chance to create lasting memories while supporting a worthwhile cause.
Making a Difference, One Family at a Time
Families for Family is a reminder that giving back doesn’t always require a grand gesture. Sometimes, it can begin with something as simple as gathering your loved ones for a photograph.
Thanks to Krista Fogel’s creativity, Nicola St. John’s generosity, and the support of participating Toronto families, this initiative is turning meaningful family moments into meaningful community impact.
When families come together to support other families, the results can be truly extraordinary.
